In my series The Ephemeral, I superimpose a photograph of a botanical cyanotype on paper with a photograph of an iconic miniature perfume bottle. “Ephemeral”: I expose the cyanotype correctly, but do not fix it. Instead, I photograph it at this stage—I want to capture the fleeting moment when the cyanotype is bronze-colored (only when it is fixed with water does it take on its typical vibrant blue color—without fixing, overexposure occurs and the image of the plant that has been created up to that point is no longer visible). The selected plant forms one of the heart notes of the respective perfume.

In meiner Serie „Das Ephemere“ überlagere ich eine Fotografie einer botanischen Cyanotypie auf Papier mit einer Fotografie eines ikonischen Miniatur-Parfumflakons. “Ephemer”: Ich belichte die Cyanotypie korrekt, fixiere sie jedoch nicht. Stattdessen fotografiere ich sie in diesem Stadium – ich möchte den flüchtigen Moment einfangen, in dem die Cyanotypie bronzefarben ist (erst wenn sie mit Wasser fixiert wird, nimmt sie ihre typische, leuchtend blaue Farbe an – ohne Fixierung kommt es zu einer Überbelichtung und das bis zu dem Zeitpunkt entstandene Abbild der Pflanze, ist nicht mehr sichtbar). Die jeweils ausgewählte Pflanze macht eine der Herznoten des jeweiligen Parfums aus.
